This design is actually from a Blood photoshoot with my friend Santana that we collaborated on down in Florida. I absolutely loved the entire series but this image really did stick out, you can checkout the rest of the series here:
Images contain nudity https://www.sveinnphotography.com/p864414954
]]>warning. there are nekid butts.
Sooooooooo my friend Shahin (@motobrapping on instagram) and I saw this Ad and both of us had the same thoughts. Here is a link to a post about it on Asphalt and Rubber by Jensen Beeler https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/oped/mv-agusta-superveloce-advertisement-backlash/
here is the video: https://youtu.be/NupSCx4pnN8
so after seeing this video, all we could think was
WOW How are people still doing ads like this in 2019?
What person was like 'woah let's put a naked girl on a bike, that will sell so well!'
Didn't ANYONE on the marketing team say something like 'no that's a bit too far, it's objectifying women'
So apparently there are still people in the world that think this is OK and the message is 'cool' and 'boys will be boys'
If you know me you will know that I'm a huge supporter of female empowerment. Now if a woman said I WANT A VIDEO OF ME NAKED ON A MY BIKE, then cool, power to ya! SLAY! but to use not only nudity but also heavy sexual connotations within the video to try to sell a bike, that's just wrong.
So both of us thought, we should do one with a naked man. SO WE DID. I used my years of experience photographing pinup and boudoir styles to try to emulate the general feel of the video, you know me, ITS ALL SMOKE AND MIRRORS HAHAHAH Here are some shots of Shahin on his Ducati Multistrada Enduro! We struggled a bit finding an easy location to shoot it so we shot it in Shahin's tiny garage, trust me when I say the hardest thing to shoot is cramped spaces and make it look like you have space and still fit all the lights in there.
The sexiness never stopped! We were giggling pretty much the whole time, I'm surprised I don't have a ton of blurry photos from the laughing HAHAHAH There were a few clear moments of calming down and getting some good shots done before bursting out laughing again when we look at them

A few weeks ago during the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly weekend trip I made to Las Vegas, Nevada I worked with Lindsey and Christina on a Devil shoot with full body paint, some horns and a thorn wreath I made from some random things I grabbed at the craft store. Pretty much grabbed some vine, some small pieces of wood, some red paint and twine \m/
Portland Photographer Sveinn KjartanssonDevil Body paint Portland Photographer Sveinn Kjartansson
Devil Body paint Portland Photographer Sveinn KjartanssonDevil Body paint Portland Photographer Sveinn Kjartansson
We had some hiccups at first with the body paint airbrush but once it got a good kick in the nozzle we got moving pretty good, took us a good 4 hours to get completely photoshoot ready. Christina brought some kick ass latex, horns and cool contact lenses. The shoot was done inside a hotel room, trust me that is NOT easy to pull off when you don't have a solid background hahahh had to make a run to the Bed Bath and Beyond for a make shift black cover on the ground and the seat to get a darker look, in hindsight i should have just gotten a giant blanket or sheet from walmart where it would have been cheaper probably
Not getting red paint EVERYWHERE was a real freaking challenge hahahah at least it didn't have glitter right? ALSO turns out there was some oil, i think it was Coconut oil, in the body paint and that caused the latex to discolor, so keep that in mind :0 .....So after hours of brutal painting and styling we finally got it all shot, getting the portrait shots were pretty easy as i can just modify the lights to remove the background, but the full body shots were a bit of a pain since the carpet and walls were a crap color as you can see in this shot out of camera below. Totally works for upper body but that floor was killing me! So off to photoshop i went!
Once i got it all into photoshop it too me a good few scotches and hours on a Friday night to remove the disaster of a floor and wall and add some composite imaging, I had a ton of fun with this collaboration with two super talented ladies! Be sure to look them up!

Communication and etiquette are for sure at the top of the list when it comes to having a good experience and not leaving behind a trail of litter and burnt bridges. As a photographer there are a few things that really burn, sometimes we don’t say anything and sometimes we just get fed up and pop.
Here’s a quick fire list, not in any order really, then I’ll go into detail further below on why, as the better we all understand each other, the better our work will be together.
Don’t be late or a no show
No we shouldn’t have to photoshop everything
Respect our time outside of the shoot
Get to know the workflow of photographers
BTS (behind the scenes photos) should include the photographer
Every photographer does it differently, don’t say other photographers do it so I should too
Don’t add a filter, edit or add text to images remove watermarks (unless you bought the license)
Don’t assume all photographers are willing to work trade with you
Don’t show up with minimal wardrobe
Keep your focus on the photographer at Carshows/Events
Good behind the scenes photo
Good behind the scenes photo
First and foremost have open communication and clear boundaries of expectations, that will solve so many problems. Some photographers are more experienced than others, keep that in mind, sometimes just asking hey, I’m looking forward to working with you, what’s your normal turnaround time, will I be able to choose which photos you edit? AND do it by email, not by messenger or txt, I say this as it’s beneficial for YOU as well as us to have that boundary and not be expect instantaneous responses.
So let’s dig a little deeper and talk about it
1. Don’t be late or no show
I feel like this one is kinda self explanatory right? Sometimes a little heads up if you’re running late might smooth it over and we might be more forgiving and wait for you and extend the shoot rather than just showing up late, like OOPS SORRY /shrug. Just like you photographers have other things to do lol it’s not just point and click and go home and it all magically gets edited :D Also one thing to keep in mind on shoots that have multiple clients in the day, if you’re late, we can’t expect the next person and everyone after that to start late, we understand you got other things to do too :)
2. No we shouldn’t have to photoshop everything
This is a tough one, every little thing that has to be photoshopped adds on the time we spend on your session AFTER the shoot. Taking a little time before your shoot to make sure your clothes aren’t wrinkled, you had your makeup and hair done professionally or at least know how to do it on a good level. Face makeup lines, hair that just does what it wants in all directions, eyelashes that are half on. Sure fixing something that went wrong on one edit is fine, but when you have to repeat it 10 times, it takes a toll, we do after all really care that you love your edits!
3. Respect our time outside of the shoot
Now. this is a sensitive subject as i KNOW there are MANY ladies out there that complain about photographers messaging them all hours constantly and not respecting YOUR time outside the shoot. But this is also an issue for us, you’re not the only client, some of us work multiple jobs, some of us are constantly getting emails on what about this dress or that wig or these shoes. Try to summarise things into one email, and yes i said email, email is going to be your best friend as its a paper trail and doesn’t have the expectation of immediate response! For both :)
4. Get to know the workflow of photographers
The more you understand what we do and how we go about the sessions the easier it will be for you to know how much work and effort we put in. Few things make us madder than people thinking the only effort we put in is the click of the button at the shoot. Far from it, just like models don’t just magically show up with makeup and hair done! Each photographer has their own workflow and what they put in. For those like me, we offer a lot of service for each client. We go back and forth on the shoot ideas, plan the location, props etc, charge all the batteries, make sure all the gear works and is packed, go to the shoot, then we pack it all down, go home and upload all the files, back it up, make sure you’re taken care of so you know what to expect. THEN we spend hours on culling those proofs so you don’t see yourself with the sneeze face or derp eye blinks lol, we process all the photos get them to you then we have to edit them all and order your prints and send you emails with all the links.
5. BTS (behind the scenes photos) should include the photographer
This is truly a hot button for many of us, but I RARELY complain as it’s just too much work to educate everyone and honestly not worth the headache of hurt egos and such. When we spend so much time setting up a shoot, great location, great lighting and then your friend takes a photo of just you and then it gets posted to social media, really you’re not taking behind the scenes, you’re taking the scene :) include the photographer, include the lights, include the car owner even! It’s about the whole scene, not just the person, let the photos we take shine
6. Every photographer does it differently, don’t say other photographers do it so I should too
This one is an easy one, don’t expect us to do anything even though someone else does. They are not us, it’s our business to run and our policies. We should not be asking the same of you, I’m sure you know what i mean :)
7. Don’t add a filter, edit or add text to images remove watermarks (unless you bought the license)
Copyright and ownership on photos is a big deal. Photographers by default OWN all rights to the photo as soon as we take it. That doesn’t mean we can do what we want with them, more on copyright another time. This all means that if you change it, sell it or use for commercial gain you’re breaking a law unless this was previously agreed on. So adding that filter on instagram, adding your model name, cropping out the watermark are wrong. Sure most of us let it slide as most people don’t understand or it’s not worth the fight, but it still throws sand in our face.Just ask, most of us are pretty cool and love to help out models and clients, and even help you understand how to do things :)
8. Don’t assume all photographers are willing to work trade with you
Let’s be real, there are MANY reasons why working trade/collaboration/TFP won’t always work. But don’t take it personal (unless it really is lol) it could be they are too busy, they don’t know who you are or you are just not their style. But when people assume we want to work with them it starts on the wrong foot. Def want to talk about this in the future in more details!
9. Don’t show up with minimal wardrobe
I feel like this should go without saying, but i have run into it quite a bit, more so on the collaboration trade side than on client side. Either way, bring more than 3 outfits, be ready to mix and match and get creative. After all, everyone wants great photos and to feel happy in them, having plenty to choose from really helps creativity on both sides. And by ALL means talk to the photographers about your vision or their vision and spend time on styling with them, the more time you plan the better the result.
10. Keep your focus on the photographer at Carshows/Events
Carshows and events can get VERY messy. THE WORST is when I’m doing a private shoot and I get a bunch of shoulder shooters. You know what I’m talking about, I have YOU a gorgeous lady and a wonderful car and we start shooting, next thing you know we have a bunch of people pulling out their cell phones taking the exact shots we are trying to get and they go straight to social media. The uniqueness and luster is stolen from the shoot. But really, that can be ignored many times, it’s when the model starts paying attention to the other people and not keeping her focus on the photographer, that’s just rude and encourages them to keep going and interrupt our shoot. What’s the harm right? Well either way, it’s using up OUR time, less time for me to get good shots of you to choose from, less time for you to find that right angle you were looking for. Some models even stop posing when this happens until the shoulder shooters stop taking photos, i mean if it’s for her calendar, she will want those photos to be unique!

This newsletter I will be talking about Angles. It really is all about the angle! Let's deep dive....
First things first, will I shoot I face level or lower? Well, for this shot below I was lower because I wanted Jenna Beth (https://www.facebook.com/MissJennaBeth/) to look taller, too low and she would have been too tall and you would miss some of the details of the car. As you can see from the Behind the scenes photo on the left that's about face height and on the right I'm probably around waist height.
Now to the models perspective, you REALLY have to pay attention to the height of the photographer as that has a lot to do with your proportions and the dreaded DOUBLE CHIN! That's right, we all hate it. I know.
So here's the thing, if he is low, don't lower your chin to meet the camera level, that makes more chins! Instead jut your chin just a little bit forward and very slightly down, make sure to look just above the photographer's head and not into the camera if you think they are really low, I would say if he's below chest height start adjusting your eyesight and keep it chest height, otherwise you look like you have your eyes closed!

Sveinn Photography Pinup CalendarSveinn Photography behind the scenes shooting for the Luscious Ladies Pinup Calendar 2018 at Just Toys carshop in Orlando, Florida
SO when should the photographer adjust his height, should i say something? WHAT IF I HAVE A BAJILLION CHINS. Well communication is super key here, tell them straight out, hey make sure I don't have all of the chins! That is better than saying you look better at a different angle. Most photographers have a bit of confidence/pride that they know the best, and yes many times they do, but YOU know your body and maybe you're working with a photographer who is not familiar with that problem. If in doubt, just take a minute to review the photos! It's teamwork after all right? you want to look the best and he wants to capture the best!
Sveinn Photography Pinup at the Mai KaiSveinn Photography Pinup at the Mai Kai Ft Lauderdale Florida
Personally I LOVE shooting at a lower angle, but sometimes I have to bring it up a bit to get the right angle for lights. So that's the other aspect to angle, WHERE is the light coming from? Always be conscious of which light is putting light on your face, just ask the photographer if you are unsure! the angle and height of the light will also have a dramatic effect on where the shadows fall on your face and how much of it will be casting under the chin. In the photo above the lovely Scarlette Saintclair (https://www.facebook.com/ScarletteSaintclair/) has a light about 45 degrees from her face creating a nice fall of light on her face and a little shadow under the chin and that really brings out her lovely jaw and facial features.
So lastly spend a little time experimenting at your next shoot or even in the bathroom with a cell camera and take photos of your face looking at different heights!
See you around! \m/

A little about me and my experience as a photographer, I've been shooting portraits and models since 2012, one of the top Pinup Photographers in the Retro industry in america. I've done pinup all across America even in Iceland and Sweden! You can find my work in spread out across multiple magazines over the years, great Mags like Bachelor Pad, Delicious Dolls, Ol Skool Rods Pinup Kulture and so much more, way more than I can keep count :). Through the years I have worked with some really great talent and learned a ton of tricks and tips for capturing the models, as well as THEIR perspective on photoshoots to better understand how to get the best out of everyone!

So yesterday a page that had already stolen, changed, removed watermarks and didn't credit myself or the model did so AGAIN even with the same photo! I had already sent them a message asking them nicely to take down the photos they stole, even gave them 5 hours to do so. They never responded, so I filed a copyright infringement with Facebook and had them all taken down, i think there around 9 images.
WELL they did it again with an image, this time gloves are off, since if facebook takes a photo down for infringement they send the person a notification SO DARN WELL KNEW! So this time no warning, just straight to the facebook infringement page and told everyone i could about page. here is the image and how they changed it!!
Here is the original photo!
Here is how they changed it:
Last time I sent something into them was 2015, a gorgeous set with Tina Reshelle, this time I have a duo set with Penelope Pink and Rhea.x.darkwoolf in the Pussy Power issue! We had such a great time creating this set while I was in Florida last October 2017, All rope work is done by me, they brought the toys ;)

10 Ways to Improve Your Model Photography Pt2
By Sveinn Kjartansson
I’ve been shooting models and portrait clients for 5 years now (2011). Through that time, I have really put a lot of energy into being the best photographer that I can be. Photography is so much more than just taking a photo; it’s the planning, the communication, and, well, just read below! Honestly, each number can be its own article, but for now, let’s just summarize! Look for future posts about each one in depth!
Part 2, Ice Breakers, More light is better, except when it’s not, Framing Composition, Angle and Height and Framing and Composition
6. Ice breakers
Many times I hear photographers that are just starting out, not knowing what to say or do with their clients at the shoot. This is why you need to get to know them, get their humor, understand what makes them comfortable and at ease. A good smile can go a long way, but a good joke or common interests go much further. Ask them why they wanted the shoot, or ask them what made them want to do it. Ask them if they have a favorite angle and make a selfie face- everyone has one! The easiest way to break the ice with people is to ask them questions and find a common ground to talk about similar hobbies and attitudes.

7. More light is better, except when it’s not
The better the quality of light, the less you have to edit. Getting to understand how light will take out shadows in some places and highlight others will greatly help your post editing! Knowing where to put shadow to emphasize features and how it will affect others is super important to get the look you are going for. There are a billion and 1 ways to light everything. I won’t go into how to light things here, that’s a discussion for another day. But I will talk about how light effects the skin and how not enough light will make the skin seem rough. Think of it this way: let’s say you have the light at 90 degrees to their face. Any pimple, scar, eyelash, or wrinkle will cast a micro shadow on the skin. If you try to keep the light pointed directly at the cheeks this should minimize post editing of skin. Sometimes just adding more light to the face will help! However, now we get to the ‘except when it’s not’ part. Providing more light also takes away character and moodiness. SO, it’s definitely a give and take there.

8. Art vs Portrait
When you start looking at taking your frame, the client is ready, assistants are ready, light is ready. What are you shooting? The eye contact and face direction has much to say about the feel of the photo. Direct eye contact with the camera is for sure more about the person as a portrait so that’s the feeling you will get. When the client looks away, turns their face, covers their face, it feels more artful (artsy) and more about the image itself. Consider how you want the person who’s looking at the photo to feel. Do you want them to make a personal connection with the person, or get a feeling of what the photo is?
Scarlette Saintclair in Las Vegas, NevadaScarlette Saintclair in Las Vegas, Nevada during Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend
Nate in Orlando, FloridaNate in Orlando, Florida
9. Angle and Height
Rule 1: Whatever is closest to the camera is the biggest. If you are above the client, their head will be bigger proportionately to their body. If you are lower, then the legs will be bigger. Keep that in mind when you move around the client, like getting low on one knee, will make their legs long and make them seem taller, which is great for both men and women because men will look taller and women will have longer legs! Win/Win! This is also accented with what lens you use- the wider the angle the more dramatic this can be, especially with the warping towards the outer lens. Some people like it and some don’t. This is the art part, know your client and shoot your style!
Raven Amira in Orlando, FloridaRaven Amira in Orlando, Florida
10. Framing/Composition
Composition is one of the biggest debates. What is technical and what is art. While the ‘rule of thirds’ is a good guideline, that rule can be broken and bent. Keep items you want people to focus on within the guidelines of the ‘rule of thirds’. This usually makes a more eye pleasing photo, but keep in mind people love things that are different and unusual, so if it’s your style to break it then do it. Just give context and tell a story! As photographers we can pick apart any photo that doesn't follow the 'RULES' and give criticism all day long, but at the end of it all, if it makes people feel or conveys what you intended, IT'S A PHOTO!

10 Ways to Improve Your Model Photography Pt1
By Sveinn Kjartansson
I’ve been shooting models and portrait clients for 5 years now (2011). Through that time, I have really put a lot of energy into being the best photographer that I can be. Photography is so much more than just taking a photo; it’s the planning, the communication, and, well, just read below! Honestly, each number can be its own article, but for now, let’s just summarize! Look for future posts about each one in depth!
Part 1, Professionalism, Knowing your client, Planning, Styling Collaboration and Location
Professionalism
I can’t stress how important it is to come across with professionalism. Now mind you, this is not the same as being a professional. I’m talking about how you behave, how you present yourself, and how you communicate. It’s important to communicate well and have a strong work ethic. Many models will refuse to work with you again (or at all) when you talk behind their backs about other models ,or bad mouth other people in the industry, or constantly make fun of other people- they will think you will do the same to them!
One of the biggest qualms models will have is a sense of personal space you give them. They are people too, ya know! Don’t touch or handle people without some communication and ground work on comfort level first.

Know your client
Does your client want to pick their own edits or want softer images? Did they pick you because of your specific style? Getting to know who you are shooting is crucial to getting photos that they will love. You are, after all, the artist that creates the final image! Getting to know your client is also super helpful to capture who they are and their essence, if you will. Clients love that. They love seeing a part of themselves in the photos that they can identify with. Everyone wants something personal to them! Get to know them and let them get to you know you! I promise that the photos will look much better if they are more comfortable with you!

Planning
You know what makes a great photo? Everything. That’s what. Planning your shoot before hand is going to be the difference between MEH and AMAZING. Plan where to shoot, plan what is going to be worn, plan what the looks are, plan what poses, and most important- plan the frame. Think about what will be behind them, what will be the focus of the photo, and what will draw people to look at it longer. Consider the environment and what will clash or mesh with your model/client and what they are wearing!
El Costurero Real, FloridaLuna Marie with wings from El Costurero Real shot in Florida, Sveinn Photography
Styling Collaboration
Sometimes bringing in a makeup artist, wardrobe stylist, hair stylist, and even a set designer to your shoot could boost the overall quality of your photos. ALSO the more people that collaborate with you, the more people will see the project! The people you bring into your shoot, consider them a part of the project, let them have a voice, take in ideas and let it be the best that it can be.

Location Location Location
Location scouting is gold. I say it all the time! Great locations can bring your photos to a new level. It could be a cool cliff, a neat spot in the forest, a friends garage, or even inside a restaurant! Knowing your location and scouting it before your shoot will help a lot when you actually get there with your client. I mean, nobody wants to see you flounder like, “Oh I didn’t realize that building was there, now we have to go elsewhere”. Spend a few hours a month checking out your locations, finding new ones and keeping your contacts!

I had the privilege and honor to shoot Stephanie Zakas for the Bulldozer project http://
This means so much to me to have been able to add something to this project, I think EVERYONE deserves to feel beautiful. This project is aimed at working with survivors of domestic violence and giving them images that empower who they are! Stephanie had never gotten a shoot like this before, she is a seasoned wedding photographer so being in front of the camera was a bit daunting for her. She braved through it though and we got some really amazing images collaborating on this shoot!

How did I do it? (the nerdy stuff)
Camera: Canon 6D
Lens: Canon 16-35mm F2.8
Light: Godox AD360
Tripod: Zomei Z668
Where: Cocoa Beach, Florida
The shoot was actually complicated to pull off, the first location we went to had too much ambient light so it was difficult to 'Freeze' the dress as the camera was set for long exposure then i would fire the flash just before the camera was finished its exposure. So although the boardwalk looks pretty cool in the photo (seen below), it made a blur on Stephanie and the dress. WHICH i don't think is awful, a sort of happy mistake!
I had an AD360 flash just off to the left of the camera, and the camera was on a tripod set to fire after 2 seconds. I started with an octobox attached (see here for an old video on it! https://youtu.be/uGGyPlNcdsM )
The exposure at first was at ISO 2000, at 16mm on F4.0 for 20 seconds. I thought this lent well to capturing the stars and ambient light and making the sea look kinda mystical. I then started experimenting with Faster Shutter and High ISO but it just didn't feel right in that scene
We then went to a second location further down Cocoa Beach to find a spot with less ambient light. This (seen below) turned out to work much better! My final settings there were ISO3200, 16mm at F4.0 for 10 seconds. I was able to capture the brilliance of the stars (and some at the time unappreciated florida clouds hahah) and freeze the dress. I then took the images in to Capture One Version 9 to test out that software (which i thought was decent but not enough to replace my lightroom and photoshop combo yet).
]]>A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to photograph this fun Elvis and Halloween Costume wedding with Gillian and Gordon! I had a great time at the wedding, the couple were awesome and their friends and family very open and welcoming. It was an absolutely beautiful day in Orlando Florida, the weather was cool and no rain in sight, so I didn't have any problems getting some pre-ceremony shots for them.
Their decorations were freaking killer! Seriously I love getting gigs where people express their creativity and just do what they want! I mean really, LOOK AT THAT CAKE! The decorations were all spooky and fun and the ring pillow was custom made!
And then there was Elvis! hahahah Seriously, this guy rocked! Steve Greer is an Elvis impersonator and Wedding Officiant http://www.gettingmarriedbyelvis.com/ [email protected] check him out if you're looking to liven up your wedding, his singing was on point! Super fun guy!

Well here's something I KNOW you have kicked around in the dirt more than once. The who is paying who issue. Is the photographer hiring the model, or is the model hiring the photographer? Keep in mind this is aimed at both Photographers and Models, pro and amateur alike. Just because YOU consider it a hobby, doesn't mean the other person does....
Let's face it! We all ask the question, we all flounder at the answer. In its simplest form, you always pay for what you want right? So what makes the photographer and model industry so difficult? Because we depend on each other. Sure clients will continue to want to hire us, no question there. But what happens when our client is in the same industry. We should all get paid or at least get something that will help us right? But we can't buy tacos with experience, or at least not at the Taco places I eat at LOL
So let's break this down. Exactly what are we providing? Do we really understand each other? Photographers do more than just click the button, our job starts before we even show up and long after we leave. Same with models, they put in effort before even showing up and they maintain after they leave! This diagram might help a little to get you to understand each other more.
Ok cool story bro, so what? right? Well let's look at what is actually costing us to stay in our industry. Both photographer and model have to eat right? Well consider what they need to pay for and provide before you automatically assume there is no cost.
So now you know. Both sides put in money and effort to be where they are. Stop assuming everyone should do it for free! Consideration and respect goes both ways and is deserved by everyone in our industry. I would love to hear your stories and thoughts!

]]>What a turnout to this sold out Pinup Sweater Girl shoot! Big thanks to Curly Girl Makeup, Scarlette Saintclair and Lexi Katt of The Luscious Ladies and Caroline Spach! All the girls attending did an absolute FANTASTIC job, THIS is what pinup is all about! We had some new faces Peggy and ChaCha and a few repeats like Cherry De Vine, Lola Von Lita, Mimosa Von Mantrap and Miss Marina Elaine! We even had Sophia, Scarlette's kitty, in on the fun! It was a fun filled day from coffee to whisky lol I'm completely drained from a long day of shooting, but hey, quality takes time and effort! I can't wait to start editing these! Keep your eyes on www.sveinnphotography.com/workshop for the next one! We just MIGHT have a Tiki themed workshop in Tampa coming up, hopefully everything will workout and we can offer it!
Checkout some of the Behind the Scenes photos! Thanks Caroline!
Here's Sophia helping me get setup for the shoot!

Some of the wardrobe available for this shoot courtesy Scarlette
Sophia is content to just nap in the way, like kitties do hahahha
Scarlette giving some pose coaching to Miss Marina Elaine
Cherry and Lola threw in a quick Valentines shoot for the set, SUPER HOT! look for it soon!
Yes. that's my butt.
Caroline is such a good boomer hahhahah sorry/not sorry
Caroline helping on set with Cherry
The awesome layout Curly Girl Makeup was using, she likes to have a lipstick palette for each girl so she can touch them up!
Some Bachelor Pad Magazine for inspiration for the girls!
So there I was, staring off into nowhere like usual thinking about how to get an easy way to do quick portraits at home, mostly for a few select clients and the occasional Selfie (yeah I know, just use your cellphone, THAT'S BORING!). So I was like, ok, well, i just need some white background, I sure didn't feel like standing up my portable backdrop gear and unroll paper every time i wanted a quick snap.
THEN IT OCCURRED TO ME.... why not just use a projector screen? I mean why not? Don't walgreens do similar? So I got on Amazon and got me a large 84x84 Projector screen and bracket for LESS THAN $90! WITH PRIME!
So what you say? Well here's what you can do easy and quick like!
Here's some final edits from this, notice in the second setup the light pointed at the screen has a gel on it!
What settings and lights did I use? how do I replicate this setup?
I'm shooting with a Canon 6D with a 28-135mm Lens at ISO 250, F8 and Shutter 1/160
3 lights: 2 Yongnuo 600s (roughly 1/8th power) one speedlight is using the Magmod set with gel and diffuser and 1 Neewer AD-360 roughly 1/4th power with a beauty dish
The first shot is close to the screen and the beauty dish will help light the background, second and third are much further away.
Until Next Time!

Tuesday brought more awesome studio adventures, with a visit from makeup artist Amber Beck and (others) to run a test shoot for an upcoming fantasy shoot. It's all super secret so far! But this collaboration will be EPIC!
We always make time for friends, so Thursday we got together with some other local photogs from the "Orlando Digital Photography Group" at Oblivion Taproom. Great food and great beer and cameras are the keys to happiness.
We couldn’t think of a better way to end the week than hot cars and even hotter ladies. We took a trip down to the Palm Bay for the 3rd Annual Space Coast Harley Fall Brawl Car & Bike Show & Pin-Up Contest. There were plenty of classics, kustoms and rat-rods in attendance at the show, and a bevy of ladies showed up to claim the crown. The lucky winner was none other than Jackie Von Spanks (https://www.facebook.com/jackievonspanks), a member of the Central Florida Chapter of the Luscious Ladies (http://www.thelusciousladies.com/).
Even though our camera decided it wasn’t interest in shuttering anymore, the week was a blast. Our googly-eyed little friend is on his way to the Canon repair center at this very moment. We ask you keep him in your thoughts at this tough time. But don’t worry too much; a full recovery is expected. It seems as the shutter has become stuck and now just takes odd photos like this one! I have only had this camera for a year but with only 40,000 actuations it should not be failing, these cameras are rated for over 100,000, so we will see what the issue is!
Next week we’re looking forward to some shenanigans with The ConMother and clowning around with Scarlette Saint-Clair, so be sure to check back next week!!
]]>Sveinn Photography took a leap back in time in the office for this months Pinup Workshop. Scarlette and Sveinn managed to bribe Tom and Jeremy to be the arm candy for the girls at the shoot. They were perfect gentlemen as usual! We built the workshop theme around the office borrowing props and renting pieces to make a wonderful set.
Behind the scenes with Scarlette, Jeremy and Tom
We had a wonderful group of girls and everyone did a fantastic job! Special thanks to Lexi Katt (far right) for the assistance at the workshop!
Sexy Secretary Pinup Workshop group!
As usual there was some goofing off at the workshop! We work hard and play hard on set!
The day went really smoothly, we brought in some great desks and props for the shoot and setup the office space with bits and pieces of genuine vintage props! As usual Scarlette and Curly Girl Makeup made the girls feel beautiful and confident!

Behind the Scenes!
Scarlette Saintclair and Lindsay from Curly Girl Makeup set up shop inside the studio to provide hair and makeup services for Ginger (Seriously, where would I be without such a fantastic hair and makeup team? While I am proud of my work behind the camera, I haven't quite mastered the art of hair styling and makeup application yet) and gave her a classic pinup look to complement the theme of the shoot. And of course, after hair and makeup and careful wardrobe selection, we began our shoot. And what a shoot it was. Thank you Ginger for taking the time to travel to Sveinn Photography and shoot with me. Meeting so many clients from so many different places is one of the things that I love about my work.
Here are some more behind the scenes shots from our shoot:
And a little sneak peek of the finished product:
Gorgeous!

Jackie Von Spanks out of the studio and into the garage!
Scarlette Saintclair was there to help with pose coaching and hair styling and Lindsay with Curly Girl Makeup joined me again to do everyone's makeup for the shoot. Gracie Lynn stepped in to help with hair styling as well so we could get to shooting faster. Scarlette brought along some vintage clothes and accessories to share too. I love working with this crew!
Hair and pose coaching, featuring Scarlette Saintclair, Cherry De Vine, and Millie Michelle!
I love shooting in the studio, but it's always fun to take the occasional field trip, and this workshop was no exception. It's always a thrill to work in a new setting (after all, it's kind of hard to fit a full garage and multiple cars into the studio) and my clients were excited for a chance to shoot on location. The workshop was an absolute blast and we got some great shots.

All set up and ready for the workshop to begin!
The studio got a vintage holiday makeover, complete with a cozy fireplace and sparkling Christmas tree(which of course had presents filled with vintage goodies underneath for the girls to open for that perfect "surprised pinup" pose)! A blue backdrop complimented the reds and greens and silvers that graced the set as well as the models. And of course, the studio atmosphere would not be complete without Orlando's premiere pinup photographer donning reindeer antlers. It's all about getting into the holiday spirit!
Spreading the holiday cheer at Sveinn Photography!
The Holiday Hottie workshop wasn't without a visit from Scarlette Saintclair and Lindsay with Curly Girl Makeup, either. Lindsay gave the girls a fabulous pinup makeover and Scarlette brought over a ton of vintage and retro clothes and accessories for the girls to play with. She also assisted with hairstyling and pose coaching.
Holiday pose coaching with Scarlette Saintclair! Featuring Millie Michelle and Lola Von Lita!
Here at Sveinn Photography, we love a relaxed, fun filled atmosphere(and a few drinks sometimes too, shhh), and our workshops are a great way to achieve that. The Holiday Hottie workshop was no exception. There were lots of laughs, great makeup, fantastic pose coaching, and of course, amazing photos as a result(oh, and the drinks and cookies were good too).
Before and during the shoot.
All in all, this workshop was another success. We all had an amazing time getting some perfect holiday shots. Here are some select shots of our clients for the day!
Perfection!

Happy Smiles is ready to put a smile on your face.
Scarlette Saintclair once again graced us with her presence and gave our models perfect victory rolls and some seriously amazing pose coaching. Her advice and tips really helped us get the best shot! Scarlette also brought along a lot of clothing for the girls to try on and play with! They were able to mix and match with what they brought from home to create a look that was one of a kind. Lindsay with Curly Girl Makeup also returned and did an absolutely fantastic job on our Vintage Vixen makeup. Their contributions, along with that perfect camera angle, ensured that we could get those sexy photo sets that we could all be proud of. And we did! And it was fabulous.
Melissa Leanne has been a big naughty. Lola Von Lita will remedy that.
Since this workshop was held in October, we decided to do a shot for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The girls were very excited to be able to show their support and help to raise awareness so that hopefully one day we can eradicate this horrible disease.
And of course, what would a workshop be without some behind the scenes pictures! This is where the magic happens, and there's a lot of it. All of the work that goes into these workshops really pays off in the end. And we have fun doing it!
Scarlette working with our girls so we can get the perfect shot.
This is how we prepare for our workshops here. The inspiration-gathering phase is of utmost importance.
In addition to hair, Scarlette also gave our models pose coaching and assistance. The girls were eager to learn from such a talented pinup model and were quick to catch on! They had the chance to work on a vintage set complete with props and the final result was a series of awesome shots! Each one of our models was able to finish out the day with a photo set that they could be proud of!
A little pose coaching Behind-the-Scenes, Scarlette Saintclair style! She knows how to bring out the best in people! And yes, all of our props are real. Ah, who are we kidding? They help bring out the best in us too!
All in all, our Sexy Susie Homemaker workshop was incredible. Fun times, fantastic photos, and fabulous girls. What more could a person ask for?
Lola Von Lita, who also attended our Bedroom Bettie workshop, had one of her photo sets from Sexy Susie published in the November Issue of Delicious Dolls Magazine!

So next was figuring out how to make the liquid spread out like wings on camera and how to light it
So i spent a few hours in the backyard with 2 lights, a bucket, a bowl, my camera and this BLOOD lol I can't remember how many times I tried until I finally got the hang of it. I ended up soaked, and boy i bet the lawn people were thinking WHAT THE HELL was i doing the night before! lol
Throwing the liquid up in a certain way with the bowl created the spread wing effect like I was picturing in my head. so the next step was to get Tina the model into the studio, well outside the studio anyway, and setup a static shot for the background, then get her posed and add in the blood wings after we shoot the poses.
We did 3 basic poses together and then my faithful partner in crime Lindsay Hill started throwing the paint up in the air. I think we shot for around 40 mins before i was happy with the amount of captures that simulate wings. I used a combination of my Alien bees 1600 with a beauty dish and my Canon 580exII speedlite with softbox and shot tethered to check the shots. I finally settled on ISO 640, F6.3 at 1/125 on my Canon 60D with the 18-135mm lens.
The next phase was to mesh it all together in Photoshop and add mood effects!

At lunch we grabbed a bite to eat at the new Diner in Daytona!

Now to start this, the camera is completely manual, the only thing 'auto' on it is the battery! No auto focus, no auto ISO, No auto exposure, nothing to even tell you if the photo will expose correctly or not. So there is method called the "Sunny 16 rule" that can help you figure out what exposure to set your camera to.
So since I am using 400 ASA film (have to stick to similar film so i can get it developed at a 1 hour photo using the C-41 chemical system) i can use this rule to sort of get a base line on my photos.
My first experiment was with the Ilford XP2 400 black and white film, know that none of these are cropped, edited or modified other than the watermark!
My next experiment was with some Kodak 400 ASA Color film since i have to specially order the black and white film online and i ran out! On my way back from a German Bakery out in the middle of nowhere Howey-in-the-hills Florida LOL! (which was fantastic!) My Girlfriend spotted a fire engine on the side of the road, i just HAD to get a few shots of it and see what the camera does with color and these awesome lenses, I was not disappointed! None of these photos have been cropped, edited or modified other than watermark.

Your favorite Orlando Pinup Photographer is back from the Pinup Festival in Miami (https://www.facebook.com/pinupfestival and http://pinupfestival.com/)!!! Wow what a crazy awesome time it was! The whole event was good, there were of course some hangups here and there but since this is the first year those will all be ironed out next year. I have just shy of 450 great photos from the photobooth and squeezed in a few booked and ad hoc private shoots as well.
I got checked in on the 9th floor and had a fantastic view of construction lol. way not cool. And I am glad i built a wagon system to carry all of my gear, as it turns out it was helpful to some of my Pinup friends as well!
The photobooths I worked at were pretty cool, i had a bunch of people stop by to snap a photo, there was a good mix of sexy and goofy shots! you can see more shots from the photobooths at http://www.sveinnphotography.com/pinnedmiami
The icing on my cake was of course Puddles visiting my booth! I freaking love this guy, not to mention his outstanding voice.

In issue We Rise Mag October 2013 Darkside Cosplay Issue#33C I have a 4 page interview using 10 photos of 5 models.
I am so happy to get some of my photos published, I worked so hard at this for 2 months to get everything together.
Special shout out to Lea Sheler Evans for making this EXTRAORDINARY mask! Thank you!
The projects I had put together were of various dark side directions, I had this really awesome mask custom tailored for 2 projects and I have been wanting to do a 'Mirror' project where the person has a beauty and a dark side.
One of the hardest parts of making these projects was holding back on sharing anything until it made it to publication, delayed gratification is not my strongest suit lol. For the first 'Eldur Mask' series I had used Metamucil and water thrown in the microwave a few times and some red food coloring to make a sort of gooey blood gel. Creepy stuff. Lori was such a sport as the red food coloring makes your hands red for hours!
In the second 'Eldur Mask' series I focused on the extraordinary eyes of Tatiana and the halloween feel. This shot was actually in my backyard with a few props from the Halloween store and my Fog machine. Turns out I can't control the wind.. who knew! Amanda Ashley Shrock did such a beautiful makeup job in this one!
The Mirror Mirror project is very special. There will be more like this one in the future. Rosa was the perfect model to show a beautiful and evil look. The background is actually the view from my Mom's farm in upstate New York. Such beauty there. Amanda Ashley Shrock did an awesome job nailing both looks so well.
In the Runaway project my good friend and model Amy had a dress we were allowed to trash and get dirty. Even though this was shot in Florida the water was really cold, we had a hard time getting her to relax in chilly water! The washed out makeup done by Deb at DNA Hair and Makeup came out so well we were all giddy!
In the last project for my magazine submission I went to Fort Christmas, Florida to capture the old and creepy feel of the restored houses there. Yasmeen did a fantastic job and the makeup by Lindsay Hill was perfect for the feel.
To see the whole spread you can purchase the print (11.99) or download (3.99) here:

In the We Rise Mag October 2013 Anime Cosplay Issue#33B I have a model interview with 2 photos from 2 projects, Rogue cosplay and Batgirl Cosplay by Valarie Vorpagel. I had such a fun time, I really look forward to doing more Cosplay photography!
To see the whole spread you can purchase the print (15.99) or download (3.99) here:
http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/654457
Between this and the Cosplay issue, I have 14 total photos in the magazines! Very much looking forward to more awesome shoots later this month!
I want to thank the awesome people who helped me put all this together: Makeup artists: Lindsay Hill, Amanda Ashley Shrock and Deborah N Aubke. Models: Amy Lynn Dorf, Lori Katz, Rosa Hernandez Ferreira, Tatiana Golechikhina, Valarie Vorpagel and Yasmeen Shihadeh.
]]>My overall concept was to tell a story about Alice going from innocent to evil and killing everyone at the table because the Cheshire cat was influencing her. I managed to get all the shots and reference photos i needed as well as a few extra to play with and a few for the models for their portfolios.
Putting this shoot together was a huge task but totally worth it. I had purchased so many props just for this shoot, borrowed additional camera equipment, borrowed a huge tea set and various pieces here and there. Then to coordinate 6 models, 3 makeup artists and 1 hair stylist almost made me flip out. Luckily no one canceled or showed up too late to shoot. We were plagued however with rain just after we started shooting and had to put up huge canopies to keep the equipment and models dry! We did a crazy song and dance a few times when the weather couldn't decide if it was going to be dry or just keep raining, but then it just dumped and we had to stay under the canopy for the rest of the shoot. Clean up sucked, let me tell you. And next time I'M TOTALLY GETTING AN ASSISTANT!
Funny thing, I had to photoshop out the canopy legs here and there, BUT DON"T TELL ANYONE! lol
I want to thank all the models, makeup artists and friends for helping me with this!
Special Thanks to Peggy for her freaking awesome Tea set and Luc and Yaira for their hospitality and letting us rampage across their yard!
